    Been hustling on the car. Got a lot done. Still much more to go. Will be at Doin’ It In The Dark in Lakeland on 2/28 to show the progress. This past Sunday my Pops and I dropped the motor in the car. 1) I had to move it as we moved a carport and it couldn’t stay where I had it 2) I wanted to be able to cut the wires to the correct length for the starter etc. Really no reason for it not to be sitting in the car at the point.

     

    Lastest progress:

    -More parts finished from powdercoat thus I could begin putting more back together

    -More parts back from sandblasting that I planned to paint to seal them up nicely (hood tensioner setup, etc.)

    -AccuAir wiring including the ViAir compressors

    -Strut rods installed including the new bushings – at first thought the passenger side was going to be a beast to mount but ended up fine. I had to install the 2 bolts on the RideTech control arms and then get the front bracket aligned

    -Motor dropped in

    My buddy didn’t have the right media to blast these nasty brackets. I’ll prob get another guy I know to blast and coat them

     

    Although this isn’t the final spot where these wiring items will go for the compressors etc. it made it easy for me to work on here – used a couple of battery lugs, solder, wiring from Ron Francis Wiring, heat shrink, etc. Solid / clean connections

     

    Strut rods. I put the flat surface in the vice to get the nut started – I had to purchase that wrench when I took these bad boys off because I didn’t have an open ended wrench large enough!

     

    Transporting the motor a few miles to my house to drop in the car. We moved a car port a few hours before taking this photo. I’m putting up a 40×24 shop. This will allow me to do so much more and help finish this car up!

    Once to my house, we backed the trailer up right near the front of the car…. cherry picked it out.. while lifted off the trailer I put the clips back in for the oil pan bolts (had then sand blasted) and then swung it around to drop err in. Couldn’t have went any easier.

     

    Other updates:

    Decided to retain the 67 dash vs dropping in the 65 dash I purchased. Why you ask, will be easier and allow me to focus on other things I need to work on. I also picked up some BAD ASS Digital Dakota gauges. They are going to be awesome once installed. It is one of their VHX kits and should be really sick once installed. Plus it will be super easy to adapt to the Ron Francis Wiring in the car.

    Thanks for asking man. I was really hustling on it daily for a long time.. after I dropped the motor in I became stagnant a bit. I’ve done a few things but had some other stuff in the hopper.. Getting a new car hauler soon so I’ll be able to tote the car where I need it. I’ll upload some pics of the progress. Mocking up the carb and springs etc. I was making sure I still had everything. Deciding if I’ll do a Lokar C6 cable, which I want to do. I need to place and order with Lokar for my truck (broke the 4L60e cable) so may just finally break down and order the C6 and make it work. This would eliminate the factory setup for shifting.

    I’m needing to upload more pics to Photobucket so once I do I’ll update the thread.

    Ok, so was getting use to Photos on my Mac since I’m testing the updated Beta version. Anyways, below are some updated pics. I know I know.. a lot hasn’t been done since last go round but I’ve been keeping busy. Pulled a motor for my buddy on his 99 Chevy, installed a B&W Turn Over Ball hitch on the Chevy 2500 tow pig, etc. etc.

     

    Favor.. need help on this pic. Is something suppose to go in here? I want to say when I took it apart there was some sort of brilo pad looking thing in here. I’m serious.

    Ok so I know the solenoid is not in the exact location it is suppose to be. Was an oversight on my part however this allowed me to cut my wires as needed. Note I used heat shrink etc. for a clean install. I’m told not to worry about the resistor wire since I’ll be running the Flame Thrower setup. Also, Ron Francis Wiring said that everything goes on one side and the starter wire is the only wire on the opposite side of all the other power wires.

     

    Mocking up the carb. The springs will be replaced with new clean ones but wanted to at least see what I was working with.

    Thanks guys! Updates:

     

    Thanks man! Updates. Floor pans cut and welded in…. firewall piece cut and installed (temp) to cover the hole where the factory AC was. I need to mark the Vintage Air lines and take this out.. drill a few more holes.. and then get it powdercoated.

    My buddy Lee came to the crib to weld in the floor pans.

     

    Next – POR-15 the floor plans, finish the wiring, bezel made for the Dakota Digital gauges, get the transmission thrown in, etc. Much more to come!

    A couple of updates. Pic of the passenger floor pan below. I’ll post more pics this week. I also thru a battery in so I could get an idea of where I need to cut the battery cables at.

     

     

    Dakota Digital gauges I received back in Feb but haven’t opened them yet. A quick mockup today thinking thru the next steps.

     

     

    Hoping to get the trans in within the next week or 2. I’m going to order my transmission mounts this week.

    Ok, no trans in yet.. but its close to going in. Loaded the car up this past Saturday to take to my buddy’s body shop. He is fixing the front fender (progress pics not even 24 hours after dropping it off) and cleaning up some of the rust spots. Then it will get a black sealer after a light sand. Basically 1) want to get it in one color and 2) seal up the roof since it was only primer. I’m hoping to take it to Scrapin’ the Coast in 2 weeks to show the progress. I’ve been wanting to bring it out and now is the time!

     

     

    This fender was damaged when I got the car and I’ve always hated it. So glad it is getting repaired. Once the car gets back it will be pedal to the metal. I’m ready to get this thing running and driving!

    Well here are the pics of the car. It was finished up on Wed of this week. I’m picking it up this evening.

     

    The car will eventually get taken down to bare metal, have body work done and a fresh black paint job. For the time being, it clean up the look and seals it from the elements. It also helps me with my vision of getting the car done and pressing forward. I’m needing to swap the front wheels back out and pickup some lug nuts. But slowly knocking stuff off the list.

    Does anyone know how the hood tensioner goes back in on the 67? I have the one bar and both mounts back in…. the second bar.. well it has so much “tension” on it. LOL. No pun intended. Any help is appreciated. Bakers said there is no trick to it..

     

    Updates: Bumper brackets picked up. Many they LOOK killer! My guy did them in a matte finish, which I really like. Hoping to get the transmission in this weekend to get the starter mounted and finish the wiring real soon. Also, took the car to Scrapin’ The Coast in Bilouxi and had a killer time. 4 confirmed slabs there and one more cruising around with the Colorado Custom Wheels on it (didn’t get a pic of it).
