It's brilliant - especially when used with -all!

In support of the effort to get Tcl/Tk 8.5b1 out the door, I've
updated the core-stabilizer-branch with merges from the HEAD,
and generated some release candidate source code distributions
    from that branch for testing:
I don't think these are true release candidates. I expect there will
be a flurry of development on the HEAD over the next week. But
I still think it's worthwhile for people to test these, since they will
in many cases offer a first test of something calling itself 8.5b1.
Many folks may be surprised what code and/or build scripts they have
which might act unexpectedly differently when faced for the first time
with this new response from Tcl/Tk.

Tcl/Tk 8.4.16 release candidates by DGP
	http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=46DDD34A.3070200%40nist.gov
Since the release machinery is fired up anyway, and there's some
interest in an 8.4.16 release too, here are some release candidates
    for that:
Contrary to the 8.5 RC's, these are likely real or close to real,
since development/bug-fixing is quite a bit quieter on the
    core-8-4-branch.

ANNOUNCE: Business Information Dispatcher 1.0 by Andreas Otto
	http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.tcl/browse_thread/thread/98f491d04cd5e2b4
The BID software was designed to apply business-rules to your eMail
traffic. A business-rule can be as easy as rewriting a header, to
route the eMail to an other recipient, up to setup a persistent work-
flow to realize a business-case. The BID software support all aspects
    of business-automation like:
     * receiving eMails from your already available Mail-Transport-Agent
     * analyzing eMails to extract business-information
     * joining and creation of new business-information
     * creating of customized layouts to represent your corporate-identity
Emails are common used to transport business relevant information from
a sender to a receiver. Sources of business information are business-
applications, monitoring-applications or just the normal user asking
for or providing data. The goal of the BID tool was to automate the dis-
patching of this information and to join a business-case with a respon-
sible receiver. A receiver can be a human being or just an other BID
server customized for a special business-case. The BID server was de-
signed as generic server using a plugin to serve a specific business-rule.
The main features of the BID server are:
     * link into the local Mail-Transport-Agent (UNIX)
     * work as a single stand-alone application or as a peer-to-peer network
cluster available on every host in your domain
     * receive emails for local or alias accounts
     * rewrite email headers and join a business case with a responsible
	receiver
     * parse email bodies to do further processing
     * including a local database to setup a perform a persistent workflow
     * including a service to create HTML emails based on your corporate
	identity using a template
     * including a service to manage access from your secure internal network
	to the Internet
     * including a service to detect email spam and reduce network load
     * including a service to access to your local email2sms gateway
     * including a service to setup and maintain an email2sms mobile phone book
     * including a service to monitor your local MTA, BID server and host
     * including a quality framework to test and verify your business-rules

Thanks for Arjen Markus for his weekly summary of Wiki action:
Just two weeks to go until the 14th Tcl conference. So no time
  to lose ...

  Implement-it-yourself
  - Every Tcl programmer at some point invents his/her own OO system
    or his/her own debugger - <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19872>

  - ... or improves an existing one: <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19873>.

  - The more graphically minded can try their teeth on 3D visualisation:
<http://wiki.tcl.tk/10529> (note for the lazy ones among us: there
is a precompiled Windows DLL for this one).

  - ... or tame the canvas widget so that it will diligently produce
    a PDF file: <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19851>

  - Of course there is fun in re-implementing the entire language too:
<http://wiki.tcl.tk/19625> - with an accent on security.

  - Or just a convenient parser for templates of code ...
    <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19864>

  Just use it
  - But sometimes you can use and improve what is already there:
<http://wiki.tcl.tk/5151> provides the combination of Gnome and Tcl,
but it works different from Tk and Tcl.

  - An old invention, pie menus, and not often seen, but perhaps you
can put them to good use: <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19847>

  - Latin? Japanese? These two very different languages are used in
two very different applications, but Tcl/Tk is a common element:
The French page <http://wfr.tcl.tk/988> leads you to them.

Everything Tcl-related you want is probably one or two clicks away in these
pages:
The "Welcome to comp.lang.tcl" message by Andreas Kupries

comp.lang.tcl is a crucial resource for Tcl practitioners.
An interesting perspective on its traffic appears at
        http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.tcl/about

The Tcl Developer Site is Tcl's "home base".
	http://www.tcl.tk

Larry Virden maintains a comp.lang.tcl FAQ launcher.
        http://www.purl.org/NET/Tcl-FAQ/

The Tcl Developer Xchange is a highly organized resource center
of documents and software with provisions for individuals to
maintain references to their own software:
        http://www.tcl.tk/resource/
The TDX sponsor, ActiveState, also keeps info to convince your
boss Tcl is a good thing
        http://www.tcl.tk/scripting/

The Tcl'ers Wiki is a huge, dynamic, collaboratively edited repository
of documentation, examples, tutorials and pontifications on all things
    Tcl.

For the ideal overview of the topics about Tcl most likely to
interest a newcomer, see "Arts and Crafts ..."
        http://wiki.tcl.tk/969
    There's also a high-quality Wikibook on Tcl:
        http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Programming:Tcl

ActiveState maintains binaries distribution and development tools
        http://www.activestate.com/Tcl
along with a Cookbook of Tcl recipes
        http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Cookbook/Tcl

"La Gazette du Técleux" is an important monthly publication.
	http://wfr.tcl.tk/1159

deli.cio.us presents an intriguing approach to reference commentary.
It already aggregates quite a bit of Tcl intelligence.
        http://del.icio.us/tag/tcl

Cameron Laird tracks several Tcl/Tk references of interest (but
needs to validate many of the links).
        http://phaseit.net/claird/comp.lang.tcl/

Years ago, Cetus Links maintained a Tcl/Tk page with verified links
        http://www.cetus-links.org/oo_tcl_tk.html

    "Yahoo! Groups" archives comp.lang.tcl.announce posts--even
    though clta itself is dormant.
        http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tcl_announce/

We're working on more useful archives of past installments. In the
meantime, an alternative is
