... no, I *know* it helps newcomers to remind them that in Tcl,
everything is a string. Most people, myself included, come to
Tcl after learning a lot of C-like languages. And such languages
treat strings as second class citizens - bastardized array of
integers that needs special care. . . . So the sooner one breaks
the shackles of typed languages the faster one is able to
appreciate Tcl for what it is. Which is why I keep telling people
that everything is indeed a string. slebetman on c.l.t

Thanks for Arjen Markus for his weekly summary of Wiki action:
Without ado, let the summary begin!
Can a computer learn?
- Here is a small interface to a library for Bayesian networks:
<http://wiki.tcl.tk/19881>. (Your spam filter probably uses
Bayesian analysis, if you are unfamiliar with the term.)
- For the patient among us: a (slowly) self-learning program
at <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19864>
Better graphics
- Work on a reimplementation of Tk ... <http://wiki.tcl.tk/16320>.
The possibilities are fascinating
- Having all your photographs within digital reach, is no guarantee
that you still know what they were all about ... Perhaps this
helps: <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19884>
- A classical presentation of information ... It may seem outdated
to today's spoiled eyes, but is it? <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19893>
Potpourri
- The "Simple Directmedia Library" is used to graphics, sound and
what not - various Tcl bindings and applications exist:
<http://wiki.tcl.tk/4607>
- Do you find predefined options to be a slight nuisance to handle
in GUIs? Why not look at <http://wiki.tcl.tk/19888>
- Everything you want to know about your network? That is asking
a bit much, but <http://wiki.tcl.tk/17493> may prove useful anyway.
Everything Tcl-related you want is probably one or two clicks away in these
pages:
