The Ford Indy 255 V8
Cutaway of the 1963 Indy 255. Though based on the 260 Fairlane engine,
everything was new. The aluminum block had a completely different oiling
system and four bolt mains. The aluminum heads had six studs per cylinder.
The rocker setup used FE-type shaft mounted rockers instead of ball pivot
rockers and the lifters were Y-block type with mushroom feet. Also note the
gargantuan 58mm Webers and equally huge exhaust ports.
