Nicked or Blemished Crank Journals

- -> the "wound" is right next to the oil passage (chamfering will get
  -> most but not all of it).  I imagine it would be difficult to evaluate
- Unless you really gouged it bad it will probably clean up at the grinder's.  
  The major thing it that no burrs be left which can snag a bearing, which the 
  grinding will take care of.  The little pit that might be left will scream 
  "STUPID!" every time you look at it, but the truth is a little acne on the 
  journal won't really hurt anything.  It's unsightly and undesirable, but 
  nothing to get your knickers in a twist over. 
- BTW, always check the journals for nicks or burrs even if you just got it 
  back from the shop - there are many ways for a careless machinist to ding a 
  journal.  Same for a brand new crank from GM.
