I normally use a special crank socket and a breaker bar to turn engines over. Sometimes it's a bit easier with a different tool.

This one is for small block Chevys.

A friend gave me a couple of old harmonic balancers with the rubber falling out. I pressed the hubs out, then used a sanding roll on the die grinder to open the holes up. I could have set them up on the lathe and bored them, but they don't need to be all that precise.

Here's one in action. One bolt goes through the two foot thickwall 1" square tube, the others go through the 1/4" steel tabs. It just slips on, and you can pull with one hand while pushing with the other, which is a lot more convenient than the breaker bar.
