You&#8217;ll need the C6 transmission from a 66 &#8211; 68 Lincoln with a 462 or the same trans from a 68 &#8211; 69 Lincoln with a 460.  A regular big block C6 may fit, but it&#8217;s apt to be tight around the heater box on the firewall.  Also, the frame rails above the motor mount area will need to be notched to clear the 460 exhaust manifolds.</p>

I&#8217;ve previously had 5 Lincolns and I just ran mufflers at the rear tucked up into that quarter panel area.  It&#8217;ll be louder than stock depending on what muffler you run, but even with glass packs on my old 65 it wasn&#8217;t too loud. </p>

<p>These cars are unibody construction and it&#8217;s no simple matter to remove the fenders.  It&#8217;s all welded together and the seam for the outer fenders is underneath the stainless trim that runs down the top of them.  You&#8217;d have to remove the trim and drill out/chisel all the welds in order to get them off.</p>
